As a baseball fan who supports another team in the American League East, I’d like to trim the fat off the New York Yankees payroll. But since I’m powerless to do that, I settle for trimming the fat off some New York fries. This recipe is almost as easy as figuring out which players used steroids.
World Series fries
Preheat your oven to 400 F
Cut a couple of large of Yukon gold potatoes into large wedges, leaving the skin on.
Put the wedges in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Boil for a few minutes until the wedges are almost tender. This will help them bake crispy on the outside and creamy soft in the middle.
Place them skin side down on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil (don’t skimp, these aren’t fat-free fries).
Sprinkle a little sea salt, pepper and paprika (I use hot, smoked paprika, but any kind will do).
Place in the oven and bake until they look like they’re done, about 30 minutes or so. Serve with lots of ketchup.
A perfect game snack to make tonight as you watch the Phillies demolish the Yankees.
